Meatworks & Store Sale Market Report 14 October 2024 | Burnett Livestock & Realty

Burnett Livestock & Realty’s Biggenden Meatworks & Store Sale on Monday the 14th October 2024 saw a yarding of 2441 head.

Cattle were drawn from Sarina, Rockhampton, Chinchilla, Gogango, Cracow, Eidsvold, Monto, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Goomeri, Cinnabar, Murgon, Cloyna, Proston, Tiaro, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Bundaberg, Rosedale, Lowmead, Bororen, Miriam Vale and all local areas.

Eight tooth Brahman bullocks from Gayndah sold for 320c/ $2173. Charbray cross bullocks from Mount Perry sold for 310c/ $2233. The small number of finished bullocks yarded this week were six to eight tooth and generally sold from 290-310c/kg.

A good quality yarding of fat heifers were on offer with four tooth speyed Santa Gertrudis heifers from Chinchilla selling from 304c-317c/$1610 and $1730. Six tooth Brahman cross heifers from Brooweena sold for 320c/$1729. Heavy four tooth Droughtmaster heifers from Gayndah sold for 310c/$1954.

Brahman cross cows from Brooweena sold for 274c/$1457. Grey Brahman cows from Gin Gin sold for 270c/$1486. Droughtmaster cross cows from Goomeri sold for 271c/$1262. Generally better cows sold from 245-265c with the second run being from 225-240c.

Store cows made from 180-220c/kg pending age and quality.

Two tooth Brangus steers from Bundaberg sold for 355c/$1647. Two tooth Brangus steers from Rosedale sold for 348c/$1445.  Milk and two tooth Charbray steers from Sarina sold for 362c/$1436 and 366c/$1285 with their little brothers selling for 382c/$1105. Charbray steers from Gaeta sold for 370c/$1467. Droughtmaster cross steers from Kolonga sold for 378c/$1248.

Three pens of F1 Charbray weaner steers from Bucca sold for 432c/$1185 and $1044 with their lighter brothers selling for 418c/$883. Charbray weaner steers from Miriam Vale sold for 418c/$857.  Simmental cross steers from Brooweena 418c/$1037. Brangus steers from Lowmead sold for 378c/$869.Brangus steers from Coringa sold for 388c/$781. Santa Gertrudis weaner steers from Lowmead sold for 400c/$877.

Milk and two tooth Santa Gertrudis heifers from Chinchilla sold for 348c/$1539 and $1526. Two tooth Charbray heifers from Gogango sold for 310c/$1175. Local No 3  Brangus heifers sold for 302c/$1167. Three pens of good quality Angus cross heifers from Eidsvold sold for 322c/$902, $744 and $739 whilst their Droughtmaster sisters sold for 290c/$732, $675 and $608. Charolais weaner heifers from Bundaberg sold for 322c/$840. Santa Gertrudis cross weaner heifers from Goomeri sold for 276c/$$574. Light Charbray weaner heifers from Miriam Vale sold for 262c/$529 and $544.

The few cows and calves yarded saw a top of $1650 for some middle-aged Charbray cows and calves.
